Somos precursores en ofrecer nuestras ofertas académicas en programación trimestral con cursos que se reúnen un día a la semana. Aceptamos solicitudes de admisión durante el año académico para los trimestres de agosto a octubre, noviembre a febrero, marzo a mayo y verano.
Nuestros procesos de matrícula para los solicitantes finalmente admitidos son apoyados en nuestra oficina y luego, como estudiante graduado, en el salón de clases, tomando en consideración las necesidades del estudiante adulto que labora durante el horario diurno.
El prestigio y excelencia de nuestros programas están ratificados por las aprobaciones correspondientes de la Junta de Instituciones Postsecundarias de Puerto Rico (JIPPR) (antes el CES, CEPR) y la Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
Requisitos de Admisión a Programas de Maestría
Todo candidato a admisión al programa de maestría, programa doctoral o con interés de tomar cursos graduados, debe cumplir con los procedimientos de admisión. Debe presentar documentos que acrediten su identidad para fines de autenticación (identificación con foto como pasaporte o licencia de conducir, vigentes). Los solicitantes deberán completar la solicitud de admisión de forma electrónica y someter los documentos requeridos por medio del enlace disponible en la página Web de la Institución o de la unidad académica correspondiente.

Para ser admitido, el estudiante habrá de:
- Poseer un bachillerato de una universidad acreditada.
- Tener un índice académico mínimo de 3.00 en los últimos 60 créditos de trabajo académico en el nivel subgraduado, graduado o en una combinación de ambos, a discreción del estudiante. Aunque por lo general estos créditos serán en el nivel de bachillerato, en el caso de un estudiante que posee créditos de postgrado de una universidad acreditada, puede combinar estos créditos de postgrado con los últimos créditos aprobados en el nivel de bachillerato hasta completar los 60 créditos estipulados. Los estudiantes que solicitan a programas graduados y que no cumplen con el índice académico requerido podrán contársele los cursos repetidos luego de graduación para efectos del índice de ingreso en lugar de las calificaciones originales.
- Demostrar por medio de un examen o de alguna otra forma que el Departamento o la División Académica estime apropiada las habilidades de interpretar material profesional, tanto en español como en inglés, y de expresarse con propiedad en forma escrita en uno de los dos idiomas.
- Solicitar una evaluación de su transcripción de créditos a las agencias especializadas o a la unidad que solicita si tiene un grado equivalente a bachillerato de instituciones universitarias acreditadas que utilizan un sistema de calificaciones diferente al vigente en esta Universidad.
- Cumplir con cualquier prueba de medición establecida por el programa al que solicita.
- Cumplir con los criterios de admisión establecidos por el departamento o programa al cual se solicita, previamente aprobados por el Vicepresidente de Asuntos Académicos, Estudiantiles y Planificación Sistémica.
Admisión Provisional
Todo estudiante que no haya satisfecho los requisitos de cursos de bachillerato para ingresar a un programa de maestría podrá ser admitido en forma provisional. El estudiante deberá cumplir con estos requisitos, con una calificación mínima de B, antes o durante el término en que apruebe sus primeros 12 créditos de maestría.
Además, tendrá hasta el inicio del próximo término de matrícula para cumplir con otros documentos requeridos en su admisión provisional. En caso de que un estudiante tenga dificultad en obtener la certificación de graduación u otros documentos oficiales requeridos por la Institución, podrá ser considerado para una admisión provisional, si cumple con los requisitos de admisión y puede someter copia de los documentos requeridos o versiones accedidas electrónicamente.
El estudiante podrá ser admitido otorgándosele un término de hasta 30 días para someter la documentación correspondiente. El ejecutivo principal de la unidad podrá extender ese período por justa causa. Del estudiante no cumplir con lo requerido al concluir la extensión, se le dará de baja. (Como estipulado en el Catálogo Graduado)

Ayudas Económicas
Contamos con préstamos para estudiantes graduados tales como el Préstamo Federal Stafford Subsidiado de hasta $8,500, el No Subsidiado de hasta $12,000 y el Plus-Graduate que cubre el costo de educación que quede sin cubrir con otros préstamos. Además, existe una Beca para estudiantes graduados asignada anualmente por la Junta de Instituciones Postsecundarias de Puerto Rico.

CAEP Accountability Measures 2023-2024 Advanced Programs
MEASURE 2: Satisfaction of employers and stakeholder
1. Educational Leadership and Management
As part of our continuous improvement efforts and in alignment with CAEP Standard RA4.1, the Educational Leadership and Management Program at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico conducted an Employer Satisfaction Survey targeting 21 identified supervisors of program completers. A total of 12 employers responded (57% response rate), providing feedback on the relevance and effectiveness of the preparation received by our graduates. The survey was anchored on six core competencies drawn from the Puerto Rico Department of Education School Principals Standards (2022), encompassing: Organizational Leadership, Community Engagement, Administrative Knowledge, Academic Leadership, Learning-Centered Attitudes, and Ethical Professional Dispositions.
Results indicate strong overall satisfaction, with ratings ranging from 80% to 100% across all competencies. The highest rated area, Learning Leadership Attitudes (100%), reflects employers’ recognition of our graduates’ commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice. Notably, Professional Ethical Leadership Dispositions and Community Leadership Skills scored 90%, highlighting our completers’ capacity to lead with integrity while fostering inclusive community partnerships.
In each leadership domain, the program ensures a firm commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Employers acknowledged the effectiveness of our graduates in promoting culturally responsive practices, engaging families from diverse backgrounds, and implementing equitable policies within their schools. These results affirm that our program prepares educational leaders who are not only technically competent but also ethically grounded and equity-driven—aligned with both local educational standards and national expectations for advanced leadership programs.

2. Educational Counseling
To evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of preparation provided by the Master of Arts in Counseling Program, the Inter American University of Puerto Rico administered an Employer Satisfaction Survey to supervisors of program completers, in alignment with CAEP Standard RA4.1. From a total of 11 identified employers, 7 responded (64% response rate), offering their evaluations across three critical domains from the Puerto Rico Department of Education Counseling Professional Standards (2015): Academic Development, Occupational and Career Development, and Personal and Social Development.
Results reflect strong overall satisfaction, with employer ratings of 90% for Students’ Academic Development Knowledge, 85% for Occupational and Career Development Skills, and a perfect 100% for Personal and Social Development Attitudes. These findings suggest that program completers are perceived as highly capable of fostering emotional wellbeing, guiding student aspirations, and supporting academic growth across diverse student populations.
Each of these counseling domains is deeply rooted in principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Employers consistently recognized our completers’ strengths in addressing individual learning needs, guiding students of varied socioeconomic backgrounds toward career readiness, and nurturing inclusive environments that support emotional and social wellness. In particular, the highest rating in the Personal and Social Development domain affirms the program’s effectiveness in preparing counselors who promote empathy, equity, and positive identity development. These results validate the Counseling Program’s commitment to preparing professionals who are not only competent in evidence-based practices but also driven by ethical and inclusive values that respond to the complex realities of Puerto Rico’s diverse school communities.

MEASURE 3: Candidate Competency at Completion
1. Educational Leadership and Management
To ensure that candidates are prepared for professional responsibilities and licensure, the Inter American University of Puerto Rico utilizes a comprehensive summative evaluation of clinical practice in its Advanced Educational Leadership and Management Program. As part of a 145-hour field-based clinical experience, each candidate is assessed across key leadership competencies aligned with both program expectations and the Puerto Rico Department of Education Certification Requirements (2022).
Summative assessment data from the most recent cohort demonstrates consistent and high-level performance across all measured areas. Competency scores ranged from 0.80 to 0.92, indicating strong evidence that completers are ready for leadership roles in educational settings. Among the highest-scoring areas were the promotion of inclusive learning environments (0.92) and the use of data to improve academic performance (0.90)—key indicators of a reflective, equity-centered, and data-informed leadership approach.
These competencies reflect the advanced knowledge, skills, and dispositions required of school leaders, including proficiency in human and fiscal resource management, ethical decision-making, the integration of technology, and strategic planning based on educational leadership theory. The evaluation model is also directly tied to licensure criteria established by the PRDE, ensuring that successful completion of the clinical practice supports both state certification and the expectations of CAEP-accredited preparation programs.
The data affirms that program completers are well-prepared to serve as educational leaders, capable of promoting excellence, inclusion, and continuous school improvement in Puerto Rico’s diverse educational landscape.

2. Educational Counseling
To ensure that counseling candidates are prepared for professional practice and licensure, the Inter American University of Puerto Rico assesses their performance through a structured Clinical Practice Assessment, aligned with the Puerto Rico Department of Education Certification Requirements for School Counselors (2015) and CAEP Standard R3.3. Candidates undergo summative evaluations based on key competencies developed and demonstrated during supervised field experiences.
Data from the most recent clinical cohort reveals strong candidate performance across all areas assessed, with scores ranging from 0.83 to 0.92, confirming readiness to meet the complex demands of school counseling. Particularly strong outcomes were noted in the ability to collaborate with families and community agencies to support students’ socioemotional wellbeing (0.92) and the design of counseling programs that include cultural diversity and equity (0.90).
These results underscore candidates’ ability to integrate ethical, theoretical, and practical knowledge in counseling practice. They are equipped to manage cases effectively, engage in evidence-based program evaluation, and establish therapeutic relationships grounded in trust and empathy. The emphasis on DEI is evident in both content and practice, as candidates demonstrated the ability to design inclusive programs that respond to the needs of diverse student populations, addressing issues of equity, language, culture, and access to support services.
The data affirms that candidates completing the program are fully competent, ethically grounded, and well-prepared to be certified as school counselors, with the capacity to support the academic, career, and personal development of all students in Puerto Rico’s educational system.

MEASURE 4: Ability of Completers to be Hired
1. Educational Leadership and Management
The Inter American University of Puerto Rico’s Educational Leadership and Management Program tracks the employment outcomes of its graduates to ensure alignment with CAEP Measure 4 (Initial and Advanced): Ability of Completers to Be Hired in positions for which they have been prepared. For the most recent cohort, institutional data collected from 17 graduates of the program indicates that all completers are currently employed in educational leadership positions aligned with their certification and training. The roles identified include School Principals (n=7), Education Facilitators (n=4), Educational Leader Coaches (n=3), Assistant Principals (n=2), and Workshop Presenters (n=1). This data confirms that the program is highly effective in preparing graduates for advanced educational leadership positions within Puerto Rico’s K–12 school system.

2. Educational Counseling
The Master of Arts in Counseling Program at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico demonstrates compliance with CAEP Measure 4 (Initial and Advanced): Ability of Completers to Be Hired in positions for which they have been prepared. The program tracks employment outcomes of its graduates across multiple counseling domains. Based on institutional follow-up of recent completers, data shows that all graduates are employed in positions aligned with their licensure and training. Specifically, completers were hired in the following roles: School Counseling (n=5), College and University Counseling (n=3), and Family Counseling (n=2). These results affirm the program’s effectiveness in preparing professionals capable of addressing diverse student, family, and community counseling needs.
